One thing I want to say about the political outcome is that although it is a backdoor government, it may be bad for the Peninsular Malaysia but very good for Sabah.

At last the illegal immigrant problem in Sabah will be tackled effectively because it was during Dr Mahathir’s time that the illegals problem worsened as Mykads were issued to hundreds of thousands of illegals to bring down the Christian-led PBS government.

Suddenly Sabah had the largest UMNO members after Johor. When this too failed to bring down the PBS Sabah state government because PBS managed to obtain a simple majority of 25 seats in the then 48 seats Sabah State Assembly in the 1994 elections, and PBS president Joseph Pairin Kitingan sworn in as chief minister of Sabah, however, as a result of defections of PBS assemblymen to the Barisan National, Pairin was forced to resign on 17 March 1994. PBS was left with 5 seats. PBS after 1994 was split into PBRS, AKAR, SAPP and PDS.

So it was UMNO bought over PBS Assemblymen to form Malaysia’s FIRST backdoor government in 1994.

Before that Dr Mahathir removed the Anti-hopping Law because it forbade the elected representatives jumping over to the other side for monetary gains and millions were said to have changed hands. Dr Mahathir defended the removal of Anti-hopping Law saying it was against the freedom of association right of the assemblyman, regardless of the rakyat who voted for the assemblyman.

So when this was happening to Sabah nobody in Peninsular said anything. Why be angry now that a backdoor government was formed at the federal level? And why is Dr Mahathir so afraid that the states including his Kedah will fall due to defections to Muafakat Nasional/Perikatan Nasional?

Dr Mahathir the doctor is getting a taste of his own medicine.


The question is not just whether it is legally right because even legally it is highly questionable.

Just because the 3 Appeal Court Judges accepted the Preliminary Objection (PO) does not mean they are right. Simply because, according to the lawyer on the other side, they were not given a chance to explain why it is illegal for a Chief Minister to be dismissed by the TYT within 48 hours of appointing him, when the Constitution states that only the Assembly can unseat a CM by Vote of Confidence.

As the Federal Constitution now stands, the Agong cannot arbitrarily dismiss the PM. Neither can any Menteri Besar be dismissed by the respective Sultans without undergoing the due process as laid out in their respective Constitution.

In the case of Sabah, following the May 9th GE14 and almost 48 hours after the election results were announced, and despite the eventual winner who had 29 seats and commanded a simple majority, with and addition of 2 more seats, had the rug pulled out from under his feet despite having been sworn in.

After unexplained lengthy delay, a swearing-in was promised at 8pm, until 11pm Musa was kept waiting to be sworn in. Almost 24 hours after results were announced, and that within 10 hours the next day he was asked to return the Appointment Letter. This lead many people to believe that horsetrading was going on. Which was confirmed when Upko Assemblymen frogged to Warisan side. At the time of the appointment of the CM this was not the case and he was sworn-in, so why did he have to lose his job after being sworn-in? With the new victors, resorting to Statutory Declaration (SD) rather than people’s vote, which is more important.

Similarly, the Prime Minister was made to wait several hours by the previous Agong after PH victory and that he too complained loudly that this should not have happened as people have spoken. In his case, the previous Agong apparently was abroad.

So, if this was unacceptable to the PM, what happened on the 9th May 2018 be acceptable to Sabahans? Fortunately, in the case of the PM, no Pakatan members frogged-over to BN to deny Dr Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan a victory. Perhaps it was due to the margin of seats being wide unlike in the Sabah case. Nevertheless, an unacceptable delay was allowed to happen with the PM being appointed but in Sabah a CM was also being constitutionally appointed. But yet, losing it due to horsetrading, never-mind the constitution, a Law Expert even joked in a seminar in Kota Kinabalu that Sabah politicians can win a medal for frog politics or something like that.

Its a pity that the Appeal Court Judges accepted the PO to deny the aggrieved in court.

The Counsel for the other side claimed on the grounds that any outcome is academic and he  based it on two main arguments :

1) even if Musa succeeded with his appeal there will be no consequence/outcome because Musa can never satisfy the threshold of Article 6 (3) of the Sabah Constitution which expressly states that the TYT appoints a member of the Assembly to be CM who has the command of the confidence of the majority of the members of the Assembly.

2) even if the Assembly is summoned, with the support of only eight out 60 assemblymen factually and mathematically Musa can never win a vote of confidence for himself or a vote against Shafie and unseat him.

Douglas Lind’s contention the case is academic.

However the larger question is not whether the successor commends the majority in the house the present moment, but whether it was Constitutionally correct to ask back from the CM, the letter of appointment. Just because subsequent to the appointment a bunch of politicians leapfrogged. Hence it is a question of whether it was legally right as well as morally right. From my understanding of the Constitution it was both legally and morally wrong and  I remain to be convinced.

My point is that the PM complained about having to wait long before being sworn-in following the GE14 results. In Sabah, a delay also happened in swearing in the CM but with different consequences.

Imagine if the PM was asked by the Agong to return the appointment letter just because some Pakatan Harapan winners decided to frog over to Barisan Nasional?

Would it then be a case of asking the PM to resign and not sacked?

The larger issue is also, does not what happened in Sabah raise the question, if unchallenged in the Federal Court, that to ordinary people like me, the TYT is the only head of state that can decide whether a CM that he had just constitutionally appointed can be dismissed by him within hours of doing so without going through the State Assembly, which is the rightful place to determine this.

By the same reasoning, does it not seem that the Sabah TYT may be seen to have powers that even the Agong and Sultans do not? I stand to be corrected?

Courts should have looked at whether a Sabah TYT enjoys greater powers than the Agong and Sultans in appointing the head of government and to help rectify if indeed this is the case now.

Because this problem is not addressed and peculiar to Sabah, this tendency of a Sabah TYT to delay appointing a CM has created crises on 3 occasions.

In 1985, 1994 n 2018.

Peoples voices not recognised in this 3 instances of Sabah’s political history – 1985, 1994 and 2018. In all 3 instances, the decisions took a different turn and the government was formed by frogging and other means.

In 1985, Party Bersatu Sabah (PBS) won the Sabah State election with a simple majority of 25 seats. However, PBS was not allowed to form the Sabah State Government by the Istana.

Joseph Pairin Kitingan was kept waiting for more then a day while power grab was underway in the wee hours of the morning. In which, USNO’s 16 seats collaborated with Berjaya’s 6 seats and the Sabah State Government was formed before the sun rose.

The schemers of this plan decided they can still form the government by laying claim to the 6 nominated state seat. The then Prime Minister Dr Mahathir was in Scandinavia and his deputy Musa Hitam had ordered the plotters to give up. Joseph Pairin Kitingan was then only sworn in as Chief Minister after almost 48 hours.

In 1994, something similar happened again with Pairin Kitingan and PBS as victims. This time, Pairin also won with a simple majority of 25 seats despite massive frogging by his assemblymen to government side due to the scrapping of the Anti-Hopping Law (The Barisan Nasional government challenged the Anti-Hop Law that was introduced in 1987 by the then PBS State Government in court and had it scrapped).

This time Pairin had to camp for 3 nights outside the Istana as the then TYT claimed he was too sick to open the Istana gates for Pairin to be sworn in. By the time the Istana gates were opened Pairin had already lost many of his Assemblymen and a new Chief Minister was sworn in after about a month. This eventually led to the downfall of the PBS State Government as the PBS election winners had joined Barisan Nasional parties.

In 2018, it happened again following GE14. But this time there was a major difference. While in 1985 and 1994 Pairin was not able to be sworn in instantly after the election results, this time, Musa Aman was already appointed Chief Minister after an unexplained delay of about 48 hours. And despite being sworn in with his Cabinet members, Musa Aman still lost his government to frogging.

This time the Upko boys did the frogging probably on the orders and advise of Tan Sri Bernard Dompok and despite pledging that as KDMs they will stick together and decide as a bloc and only leave the BN after consensus among themselves. Five assemblymen from Upko and one MP left BN to throw their support behind Warisan and Pakatan Harapan, a day after the general election.

Their action caused the collapse of the BN government led by former chief minister Musa Aman whose cabinet, which included two Upko assemblymen, had been sworn in less than 12 hours before.

I was there on that night of May 9th in Sri Gaya when Tangau came out and answered a phone call apparently from Dompok asking him to go to Shafie’s house in Luyang. Tangau disappeared from Sri Gaya after this phone call and headed straight to see Shafie in his house, alone, leaving all his UPKO boys with Musa Aman in Sri Gaya. Upko then switched allegiance to the Warisan-Pakatan Harapan pact a day after the election.

For how long more must Sabah continue to be the only state where the Assemblymen decides who is to form the government by becoming political frogs and not by the people who voted them?

In the end the CM is appointed through political frogs producing statutory declarations  (SD) instead of the peoples wish being respected.

Lets hope a right decision is made by the Court of Appeal on this November 28th on the appeal of Musa Aman against the High Court ruling over the legitimacy of Shafie Apdal as the Sabah chief minister.

Comparison has been made between Sabah CM row and the Perak Mentri Besar tussle. However it must be stressed that they are entirely different.

In the Perak case, the Sultan acted before the new Mentri Besar was appointed.

In the Sabah case, the worst case scenario happened, despite the CM and the Cabinet already sworn in.

In the Perak case, everyone is the Sultan’s subject and the Sultan has the right.

But in the Sabah case, it does not have a Sultan but only a Governor, who himself is nominated by politicians of the day.


Besides the economy, Sabah and democracy are themselves undergoing a stress-test.

It is commonly understood that the most acceptable marker of economic growth of a state is its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Economists, who rarely agree with each other, acquiesce with this economic measure; that is a considerable achievement by itself.

However, since CM Shafie Apdal took charge of Sabah on May 12, 2018, after the defections of Upko assemblymen who after winning their five seats on the BN symbol, flags and manifesto led to the loss of Musa’s majority. Ever since then, Sabah’s GDP has become a subject of controversial discussions, especially since it accompanied several grotesque claims of government achievements that appeared questionable.

While the Opposition decried the GDP chest-thumping roar as akin to cockamamie, the Shafie Government gloated on its spectacular accomplishment, its spokespersons hyperventilating on TV screens and social media.

Something is clearly amiss. Many think Sabah’s data under Shafie is not just cooked but barbecued.

I try to unravel this intriguing conundrum, in brief, by addressing questions that crop up with predictable regularity.

What was the GDP inherited by the present Shafie’s Government from the former Musa’s Government?

It was 8 per cent – healthy, strong and recovering robustly.

But, Shafie and his Warisan coalition through their massive propaganda machine spread the canard of apocalyptic doom that “Sabah was on the verge of a collapse”, as fearmongering and manufacturing anxiety suits. In May last year, Chief Minister Shafie Apdal claimed that Sabah was in financial difficulty and the previous Musa administration did not leave RM4 billion reserve as claimed. Shafie, who is also Sabah’s finance minister, insisted that the state’s reserves were in the negative.

Since then, however, the auditor-general’s report for 2017 has indicated otherwise, leading the state’s Opposition to dispute Shafie’s claim.

After confusion and controversy over Sabah’s financial health, state treasurer Rusdin Riman said that the state grew its reserves by over RM4 billion last year-2017.

What about the claim by Shafie that his government is responsible for the miraculous turnaround to make Sabah the fastest growing economy?

It is an absurd proposition that even a kindergarten child will debunk. How can a economy make such a dramatic turnaround within 15 months, one which was being disingenuously trashed by Shafie as a failure just a few months earlier?

The truth is that Sabah moved into the global financial arena taking giant footsteps under the 15-year period of then CM Musa Aman.

Many have called it the golden period of Sabah’s economy, as for the first time ever, we witnessed a 10-year average GDP growth rate of 7.7 per cent and lifted a million people above the poverty line, reflecting the successful model of inclusive growth.

In successive years, between 2003 to 2018 April, Musa’s government reached growth rates of 8 per cent, hitherto deemed unreachable, almost reaching double digit growth levels.

In short, Sabah was much better under Musa than under Shafie now. How do you compare the Musa’s GDP performance over that of Shafie?

There is no comparison whatsoever; GDP went up by over 300 per cent during the 15 years of Musa government. The Musa government performed extraordinarily better compared to the anaemic, almost lackadaisical numbers of Warisan-Upko-PH government.

In fact, Shafie’s government had a great opportunity to build on a strong inheritance from the previous Musa’s government, but wasted a burgeoning growth momentum.

One must remember that the Musa’s government succeeded despite facing Malaysia’s worst economic crisis, recession of 2007-08, low oil prices, drop in timber royalty due to export ban and running a difficult coalition government, and facing repeated sabotage by Shafie at the Federal level and a very difficult Vice President of Umno to deal with.

Why is the ground reality so different from the headlines and the hype?

Under Shafie, what you see is not what you get; there is selective cherry-picking, exaggerated claims, new methodologies adopted to make a sheep look like a lion, and in many cases, data that inspires grave apprehensions about their authenticity. Shafie indulges in a lot of puffery.

Thus, we have this atrocious contradiction where Shafie claims that Sabah is a growing economy, but the farmers are crying under severe rural distress, joblessness, private investments, exports, aggregate private expenditure are all looking dismal.

It hardly needs further assertion that the rural economy, in particular, has crippled small businesses. Lucky for Shafie, there is tourism, thanks to previous Musa’s government for laying the groundwork and logistics.

The damage is still being undone.

Is GDP the only macro-indicator of the health of the economy?

No, it is not, it is just the easiest one. The true health of Sabah is determined through a more detailed biopsy of economic and social indicators, mostly job creation, per capita income, export performance, gross fixed capital formation, reduction in poverty levels, per capita expenditure allocations to health and education.

On all these factors, Shafie has slipped by having both feet on a banana peel. We must not forget that the relevant index for Sabah is Human Development Index. The fact that we have seen an alarming dip in Poverty Index, or the Gender Disparity Index should tell us that this government has merely indulged in headline-hunting, rhetorical speeches, statistical manipulation and massive publicity blitzkrieg.

Besides the economy, Sabah and democracy are themselves undergoing a stress-test due the presence of huge number of illegals immigrants with fake IDs.

About time. Governance in a democracy is like a fishbowl, everyone must know the truth. But under Shafie opacity rules, or as Salman Rushdie would say, there is a lot of chutnification going on. But truth does ultimately win.


In 2014, Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) had entered into an agreement to purchase two parcels of 6,000 acres of land in the Tongod district.

It was Risda’s MR155 million oil palm land purchase deal in Sabah.

Risda, under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, had appointed a Sabah based legal firm to handle the purchase of land in Tongod.

Risda made a down payment of 10 per cent deposit amounting to RM15.5 million on signing the Sales and Purchase Agreement with the legal firm Micheal Ubu & Co.

The deal was eventually aborted as it involved Native Customary Land. The RM15.5 million or 10 per cent deposit held by the Sabah-based legal firm, acting as trustee, was not returned to Risda.

The lawyer involved, Michael Persius Ubu, has been sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) since. Ubu, 62, failed to show up at the MACC office despite being summoned along with Warisan vice-president Peter Anthony last year.

Ubu’s whereabouts are unknown but many believe Micheal Ubu is in Kalimantan.

Ubu has been struck of the Rolls and can no longer practice legally.

 

Micheal Ubu’s disappearance if anything is a big mystery.

Two possibilities might have taken place.

Either he went into hiding on his own accord for reasons known to him OR he was asked to go into hiding with assurances that he would never be prosecuted for his involvement in any wrong doing if any. I believe it must have been the latter that prompted his disappearance.

If there are wrong doings in that RISDA deal it must have been known to Ubu and Warisan president Shafie Apdal, who was the Minister of Rural and Regional Development that oversaw Risda at the time.

And if Shafie is aware, anything that comes out from the Ubu’s mouth will implicate Shafie, no?

Micheal Ubu probably holds the many secrets and answers to what really transpired. And probably Shafie’s life line in holding office as Chief Minister of Sabah?

But then again it depends very much on how Dr Mahathir wants to deal with Shafie.

Besides that, as it is, rubber smallholders are suffering because of poor yield and they are grappling with a gamut of perennial issues, and here we have a RM155 million land deal meant for the development of rubber smallholders is being swindled.

Hopefully our newly minted Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Latheefa Koya would make the effort to track down Micheal Ubu and make that a top priority.

And then, the Court of Appeal is also slated to hear pretty soon Musa Aman’s appeal against the High Court’s decision to reject his bid to declare him as the rightful Sabah chief minister. The dates not fixed yet for the hearing but court officials say it could be early November this year. 15 months has passed after May 9th GE14, but, still uncertainty remains over the issue of who the rightful Sabah chief minister is despite High Court ruling in favour of Shafie Apdal last November 2018.

Musa a fine man was sworn in on May 10 after claiming a simple majority of 31 seats in the 60-member assembly, lost his majority a day later and Shafie took the oath of office on May 12.

The appointment of two chief ministers in the space of 36 hours has seen varied legal opinions expressed about Sabah’s constitutional provisions for the Head of State to remove a chief minister who had lost his majority. This has to be settled by the courts once and for all, and Im very certain Musa Aman will take it to the highest court The Federal Court for a decision.

Dr Mahathir does not like uncertainty.

Dr Mahathir’s grand design is known less to people around him but base on the information that I gather it is very likely that Anwar Ibrahim would become Prime Minister taking over from Dr Mahathir. Dr Mahathir knows very well after him only Anwar can hold the Malays together and Anwar has the mass support.

UMNO would be sacrificed, Najib, Zahid and Ku Nan would eventually have their political career ended in Sungai Buloh.

Azmin Ali, Mukriz Mahathir, Khairy Jamaluddin, Nurul Izah and Syed Saddiq would be groomed as Malay leaders. Azmin Ali is tainted now because of the gay sex video, so one down.

Dr Mahathir’s PPBM would be the next biggest and most influential party for the Malays.

I also hear Dr Mahathir had instructed Wathya Moorthy to leave Hindraf and form NAP ( National Action Party ) to house the Indian voters and to represent the Indian community. In 67 Parliament seats in Malaya, Indians decide.

DAP is the most stable and progressive party in the Pakatan Harapan. Lim Kit Siang was wise not to put his face on the front line after the PH’s GE14 victory. Kit Siang knows that the only thing that stands between the DAP and the Malay fury is Anwar Ibrahim.

Now coming back to Sabah, guess to whom the abandoned Star City Mall in Kota Kinabalu goes to? It goes to a RM2 Sdn Bhd controlled by Datuk Seri Tiong, the MP for Bintulu. Tiong’s company Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd milked Port Klang Free trade Zone in billions. Tiong is Shafie’s best buddy from yesteryear’s.

Then we have Micheal Chin who used to operate massage parlours in nightspots in Labuan. A whooping RM165 million water distribution contract had been given to him. I hope its not true, but If this is true, how can the Warisan State Government give a water distribution contract worth hundreds of million to someone who is in the recreation business? Is it because Micheal Chin and Peter Anthony where in the nightspot business before?

Strange things happening in Kota Kinabalu, even a Penang Chinaman who came looking for a job in Sabah 20 years ago was nominated as a Nominated State Assemblyman in the Sabah State Assembly. Another loss for Sabahans because the 6 nominated seats was only meant for minorities in Sabah, not someone from outside. See below..

Judging from all these there is a strong likelihood that Dr Mahathir wants Sabah Bersatu Chief Mohd Hajiji Noor to replace Shafie Apdal as Chief Minister of Sabah. It is looking like that. Shafie would be brought back to the Federal probably taking over from Azmin Ali as Federal Minister. I believe this is in the pipeline. Azmin Ali would be asked to go on leave soon.

Lets see what happens after Hari Raya Haji 2019 Aidiladha!


The possibility of another round of Project IC – granting citizenship, and thus identity cards (ICs), to immigrants — is generating concern in Sabah.

The last four decades saw Sabah’s population increase unnaturally, from 636,431 in 1970, to 929,299 in 1980, and to an extraordinary 3,120,040 in 2011 – an overall increase of more than 390 per cent. 27 per cent of Sabah’s population today are foreigners.

The animosity and anxiety that such a population boom creates have political, economic and social ramifications and it’s the kind of recipe that leads to disaster. After Warisan came to power in Sabah, the anger among Sabah locals over illegal immigration and fraudulent citizenships has boiled over with louder calls for Sabah’s rights to be respected and even calls for secession.

Discontent is still running high in Sabah, despite promises of redress by the new Shafie’s Warisan government.

Shafie Apdal said, Sabah will make sure another exercise does not open the door for another contentious “Project IC” to happen, but is it true? Looking at the pictures below, says something else.

Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) replies:

KOTA KINABALU: The National Registration Department (NRD) has denied involvement in the application of identity card (IC) registration issue for illegal immigrants in Sabah which has been circulating in social media recently. NRD, in a statement Thursday, said several photos of the forms, related to identity card registration, being disseminated were not official documents issued and used by the NRD for registration purposes. Regarding this, the statement said a police report would be lodged and the NRD would also work with other relevant agencies to conduct further investigations. “The NRD has called on the public not to believe and propagate false information to avoid any confusion and disturbance of public order,” the statement said.

The NRD also asserted it never appoints any agent or individual to represent the department in managing its affairs. “All the official documents of the department are only issued at the NRD offices and are not distributed to the public randomly,” it said.

It may seem that the war of words between Dr Mahathir and Shafie Apdal began with some confusion over the issue on how many seats were initially secured by Party Warisan Sabah on the night of May 9th GE14 elections. On one hand, rumour has it that Dr Mahathir believed Warisan should have secured 35 seats instead of a dismal 21 seats. Today, Shafie Apdal has claimed to having 45 seats in the Dewan. The question here is, what are his intentions?

As soon as it was established by the court that Warisan had become the legitimate government, things began to change. As we all know, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Beginning with the repeal of the TYT term and giving him unlimited extension. Many opposed the move but those who have supported him did so to curry favour with Shafie with the hope of getting personal rewards, some say. Even the Minister of Finance was taken up by Shafie in vowing not to follow the footsteps of his predecessor Musa Aman.

After nine months in power it was later admitted that the state had in fact RM 4 billion in government reserve. In the beginning it was reported by Shafie that the treasury has empty coffer which readily made people believe.

Warisan became the state government only through the support of UPKO, without whom, Shafie could not have become Chief Minister and Wilfred Tangau, Deputy Chief Minister. In a sense, the two live for each other. Warisan leaders were also given a number of full federal ministry posts, Darell Leiking, VK Liew and Mohd Din Ketapi and their choice of Sabahan personnel.

The spate of fire in the squatter colonies in Likas/Sepanggar, Banggi, and elsewhere have suspicion ignited. All these fires only occurred in squatter colonies all over Sabah and this is unique and devoid of logic. During the fires people were said to be seen rushing to save their televisions, refrigerators, mattresses and other household goods, but not their personal documents. Those affected by the fire are known for their illegal statuses and it was suspicious that these acts of arson kept happening only in those squatter colonies.

Then, the State Minister of Law and Native Affairs Aidi Moktar claimed the government would review the law on whether the Bugis and Jawa communities can be considered as natives in Sabah. Rumours indicated that it is because of the fear that Datu Akjan the self proclaimed “ Sultan Sulu” was taking away the Suluk and Tausug vote bank from Warisan to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (PPBM). It did seem apparent that there is a grand design to distort the Sabah political landscape and cause a racial imbalance for political purpose, once again.

Then thousands turned up at NRD centres, all allegedly foreign looking individuals. The state director of NRD said that the department was conducting census, an alteration of shifting demographics. There was even a report that thousands have been issued late birth certificates in several parts of Sabah with substantial population of immigrants.

With all these happenings in Sabah the last nine months, for sure the Special Branch must be reporting to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir. And those receiving big favours from the government especially the millions changing hands at the Harbour Trade legal firm in Kota Kinabalu have plenty to be worried now. Naturally nothing is secret anymore especially with social media i.e Facebook, Whatsapp and blogs that could go viral and influence the course of events.

The tide has certainly shifted with the sudden change of mood between Warisan and Bersatu.Their arrival in to Sabah leaves no credible opposition in the state. Bersatu’s arrival can be seen as an attempt to monitor the activities of the state government. As a part of the PH central government, Bersatu or its appointed allies in Sabah can provide check and balance, based on the “rule of law”. The fear many locals share with me is that any uprising in the future is possible when a large population of illegal immigrants is present in the state and comfortable with a sitting government. Sabah is facing an existential treat and I’m certain Shafie is aware, which is why he has met with the Philippines ambassador to raise Sabah’s concerns that security threat in the southern Philippines might spill over. I can only caution the state of the events in 1976 fall of USNO. That too was a similar threat to the then ruling PM, and if left not monitored, history will indeed repeat itself.

If we visit the CM’s office or even Jaujan Sambakong the local government minister’s office, one can see who are those that come to their office, its like a TAMU ground.

There was even a report that thousands have been issued late birth certificates in several parts of Sabah with substantial population of immigrants.

With all these happenings in Sabah the last nine months, for sure the Special Branch must be reporting to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir. And those receiving big favours from the government especially the millions changing hands at the Harbour Trade legal firm in Kota Kinabalu must be worried now. Anyway, how come a friendly Dr Mahathir who was on Warisan side and now suddenly PPBM is being painted bad?

There is no credible opposition in the state.

The influx of more PTIs and these people becoming bold and arrogant after Warisan victory are very obvious.

Hence, if PPBM comes to Sabah as an opposition to monitor the activities of the government it makes sense. Bersatu is part of the PH central government. Only PPBM or its appointed ally in Sabah can provide check and balance. The rule of law must take place. Even Najib has been charged in court, others in Sabah that wore the Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission’s (MACC) infamous orange lock-up T-shirt uniform must make it known that MACC has a case against them.

Any uprising in the future is possible when a large population of illegal immigrants is present in the state and comfortable with a sitting government. Sabah is facing an existential treat and I’m certain  Shafie is aware. That’s why today it was reported that SABAH Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal plans to meet the Philippines ambassador soon to raise Sabah’s concerns that security threat in the southern Philippines might spill over to Sabah. The fall of USNO in 1976 was a similar threat known to the Prime Minister at that time. History will repeat if not careful!


Politicians of every clime have been known to play to the gallery. They make these grandiose pronouncements, these grand gestures, these hyperbolic statements, all in attempts to appeal to the popular taste, rather than the more refined or esoteric.

Examples abound from our recent 14th general elections, where promises flowed free and fast from the lips of people who knew fully well they could never deliver or that the delivery date was so far off that they should have cautioned with provisos.

In the almost nine months since the polls, disappointment has set in as election gimmickry, fads and fashion faded.

The electorate who thought, by now, that they would have been enjoying a spanking new house – Malaysia Baru, must be feeling quite put out, despite the post-election explanation that the count down starts when Pakatan Harapan forms the Federal Government.

How can you blame them? It was the Prime Minister who boldly pronounced at the “Inauguration Ceremony” a Malaysia Baru. Nothing is baru, all the same.

Look at the case of Sabah. Parti Warisan Sabah made it clear before the 14th general election that Warisan wanted to govern Sabah on its own without Bersatu spreading its wings in Sabah. There was great hope that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will honour its word of not entering Sabah as promised. All that hopes have been dashed when today Dr Mahathir announced the confirmation that Bersatu will start its Sabah chapter.

Well, again, this “sound byte” sounded good to the gallery before GE14. However, the reality of just what this would entail has set in, and no Sabahan for that matter, in his right mind, even believes anything Dr Mahathir says.

However at this juncture, Bersatu has yet to gain a firm foothold in Sabah’s political landscape. And before Bersatu gets a firm foothold, it will be wise for Shafie Apdal to dissolve the Sabah State Assembly and call for a snap election. Inevitably, the speculation has begun.


Raids are on political figures across the country, even if they are now restricted to only non-Pakatan Harapan leaders, should be welcome. People who accumulate money by misusing powerful positions must be brought to book.

BUT it would amount to nothing but vendetta if leaders of Dr Mahathir’s Bersatu, PKR, Amanah and others in the PH are exempted, including Party Warisan. It cannot be anyone’s case that PH leaders or their allies don’t amass money. A scrutiny of their Election Commission submissions will be quite revealing.

I have been saying this for quite some time. Why go far, raid the chieftains of all parties and their relations and you will come to know about others. Also check all the diary entries of all businessman to know who all did they pay over the years, not dismissing them as “Routine Accounts”. Then the crimes like rapes and murders by politicians, now that people have started coming out to allege sexual harassment by leaders.

As far as Borneo states are concerned certain correction is happening now. Till recently some big time business tycoons and politicians are untouched as entire income tax department and the corruption agency here was in the hands of those people who were with Barisan National Putrajaya. Following the breakup of Barisan National after GE 14 there are searches.

Dr Mahathir is no holy cow in using institutions like ACA now called MACC, and the Tax Department. During his 22 years rule countless times he used them against other party leaders as well as his own party leaders who revolted, he is doing it again. See what he did to Musa Aman just two days before the court verdict for the rightful Chief Minister of Sabah? He charged Musa Aman for corruption. He charged Musa Aman for a case which was closed 14 years ago, he resurrected the case and charged Musa Aman for corruption.

Why did the charges against Musa come just two days before the court is set to rule on his challenge against Mohd Shafie Apdal’s legitimacy as Sabah’s current chief minister? Is it not to influence the judiciary? Is this not selective prosecution? And worst still, as speculated in the social media, the judge involved in the ruling has been promoted to the Court of Appeal.

Another side of the story. Ideally action should be taken against all irrespective of their political affiliations. But if corrupt are taken to task even as pure vendetta it is welcome. Next time when the other comes to power they should also take action by way of vendetta, and the score will be settled. But my guess is that even these vendetta are just for public consumption.

Credibility comes when you do it to your own also. When Fidel Castro ordered the nationalisation of all big farms in Cuba, the first farm expropriated was that of his father.
