Guys this is interesting, most of my family members and friends just love to pop VITAMINS. And I’m afraid that really would push me over the edge whenever I tell them not to overindulge in VITAMINS..

So, that’s that. I’ll keep exercising, of course. I’ll eat a reasonably healthy diet, mutton curry including some grilled meat (carcinogen! probably!) here and there. I’ll enjoy a few beers, laugh whenever possible, and plenty of sex and — yes — smoke my daily THC.

Wish me luck. A close friend once told me “I’ve heard that life can result in death. Better watch out for that one”

All those who want to live long here is the new study….

A new study by Catherine Fields the Professor of Nutrition from the University of Alberta say that eating food rich in nutrients is more than enough to boost our immunity against colds and flu instead of just popping too many vitamins.

The good Professor Catherine a dietitian, in her study say “almost all vitamins and minerals play some role in ensuring an optimal immune response…but high doses do not help and may do harm,.”

Here are the vitamins and minerals to fight viruses, and in which food they are found, most, based on the evidence provided by Professor Catherine.

Vitamin C: Optimal vitamin C status has been identified as important for the immune cells involved in defence against viruses.

The main function of vitamin C is to help heal cuts and wounds; keep gum, teeth, and bones healthy; keep blood vessel walls strong and help absorb iron from the foods we eat.

Despite being studied for over 40 years, there is insufficient evidence to advise taking more vitamin C to prevent colds or the flu. The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) is 75 mg for women and 90 mg for men (an additional 35 mg should be added for smokers).

This is easily obtained by having one to two servings of vitamin C rich citrus fruits (such as oranges), or vegetables like sweet peppers and broccoli.

A higher dose of vitamin C is not without side effects such as causing digestive problems.

Zinc: Zinc is important for the cells involved in defence against viruses. Zinc is also involved in many bodily functions. It supports normal growth and development during pregnancy, childhood and adolescence.

It is also required for a proper sense of smell and taste so that low zinc status can influence your appetite and enjoyment of food.

The current RDA for zinc is eight mg for women and 11 mg for men. The best sources of zinc are seafood, meat, seeds, cooked dried beans, peas and lentils.

A serving of lentils (3/4 cup) provides almost two mg of zinc. Plant sources are less reliable as the level of zinc in plants depends on the content in the soil.

As a result, vegetarians who mainly depend on plant sources of nutrients are advised to consult a dietitian to ensure their needs are being met.

Selenium: Although selenium is important for a healthy immune system, there is little evidence that consuming selenium supplements will reduce the risk of viral infections.

Recommended amounts are small, only 55 micrograms daily for adults, readily obtained from nuts, seafood, organ meat, pork and whole grains. Half a cup of cooked brown rice provides eight to 10 micrograms of selenium and a serving of mixed nuts (or 1/4th cup) has about 150 micrograms of selenium.

Viral infections, such as the flu, are often associated with a fever. However, there is no evidence that “starving a fever” by reducing the amount of food eaten will reduce a fever, says the University of Alberta statement.

In fact, a fever is a helpful means used by our own immune system in order to fight off the viral infection. If we stop eating, the immune system doesn’t work as well and all of the nutrients mentioned above, as well as many others, are important to the immune system.

The bottom line is “the key to good health is eating a well-planned balanced diet that focuses on variety”, concludes Professor Catherine.

Wishing all my Muslim friends a Selamat Hari Raya Haji specially to you BABY, SHYAM and your PARENTS wherever you all are. Also to MY BUDDY RAJA PETRA & MARINA wherever you two are my heart will always be there. Also not forgetting my good UMNO BUDDIES in Penang.

And also not forgetting all the MUSLIM staff of Tanjung Aru Tours And Travel Sdn Bhd…Rosdiana Wasimin, where is my rendang and ketupat?

Hari Raya Haji, as I know, marks the Prophet Abraham’s readiness to sacrifice even his own son, Isaac/Ismail, on the orders of God. Prophet Abraham had to show his commitment and obedience to God, as a final act to make the blessings of the covenant between him and God. With faith Prophet Abraham executed the request, with exactness, thus demonstrating his willingness to trust in the word of God and in his ability to do all that he had promised. To me, this is the true meaning of sacrifice.

Selamat Aidil Adha dan Selamat pulang ke kampung masing-masing dan semoga berhati-hati di jalan raya.

Today is International Meatless Day – Animal Rights Day.

I am not having any meat today and I hope all my friends who had pledged to go meatless today will abstain from consuming all forms of meat, fish and fowl for the entire 24 hours. It is so nice to know that nearly 11 thousand in Malaysia had pledged to go meatless today.

The International Meatless – Animal Rights Day campaign was first started in India in 1986 by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission- a social service organisation with a spiritual aim dedicated to serving mankind, especially the poor and downtrodden. The mission has declared the 25th day of November as an international meatless day to honour and remember its founder, Dadaji T.L. Vaswani – a saint, philosopher, spiritualist and educationist.

Dadaji T L Vaswani set forth on a noble mission with a vision of practicing kindness that has created a phenomenal transformation that has saved the precious lives of millions of innocent and defenseless animals.

Many Hindus and Buddhists refrain from meat twice a month, on the 1st and 15th of the lunar calendar. Now, the idea has been raised to extend the practice to once a week. This idea might be useful with other religions that have meatless days.

Even Sir Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono, and our Late John Lennon were all for Meatless Day.

It is an inspiration to know that Sir Paul McCartney a vegetarian had urged the world to have TWO meatless days per week – the suggestion being that if the entire planet did this, it would reduce the amount of beef, sheep and pigs required for the table, cut down greenhouse gasses and help with climate change.

So guys, just try having one meatless day in a year in our household – just think it is good for the body – but if it contributes to the planet – what the heck – I can live with 20 days a year without meat lah.

What say you guys?

This is specially for all those nut eating addicts including myself. Hear this….

A daily dose of nuts-walnuts, almonds, pistachios- can make up for a heart-healthy diet, according to Mayo Clinic researchers.

Most nuts contain some nutrients that can benefit heart health and help with cholesterol control. They include unsaturated fats, omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, 1-arginine and plant sterols. Nuts have been shown to reduce low-density lipoproteins (LDL, or “bad” cholesterol) levels in the blood.

Eating nuts also can reduce the risk of developing blood clots and improve the health of the lining of the arteries. The above benefits suggest that eating nuts, in limited amounts, may reduce the risk of heart disease, though studies haven’t yet proved this conclusively.

Almost any type of nut is nutritious – and high in calories. It is best to eat nuts in moderation, no more than a handful a day. Also, choose unsalted or low-salt versions and use nuts as a substitute for saturated fats, such as those found in meats, eggs and dairy products.

The study has been published in the latest issue of Mayo Clinic Women’s Health Source.

The Kelantan Umno Youth had the temerity and the colossal audacity to ask Tok Guru Nik Aziz to vacate the mentri besar’s post just because Tok Guru evidently had admitted that he received sponsorship amounting to RM65,000 to perform Haj. These retards say that the PAS spiritual leader’s decision to cancel his plan to perform the Haj does not prove his innocence. What bloody hypocrites. They really piss me off.

Tok Guru did say that a sponsorship is not a bribe and he had received numerous offers from many people who were willing to pay for his trip to Mecca. What so wrong about this?

The Umno Youth fellows think that they are so damn good and so innocent. As though we dont know that their father’s father who all belong to UMNO were all corrupted to the brim. Is this not the story of pot calling kettle black? UMNO leaders have a personality that is a stark contrast to PAS leaders. Most of them are so wealthy. Some has accumulated wealth beyond a reasonable explanation. Many UMNO leaders have been associated with immoral activities but the same cannot be said with Tok Guru.

As far as I am concern, Tok Guru is spotless. Tok Guru for the past 20 years since becoming Menteri Besar of Kelantan NEVER did abuse any state resource to build a personal palace for himself unlike the UMNO CHIEFTANS who all have MILLION MILLION DOLLARS PALACES all over the country. In fact, Tok Guru still lives in his old wooden house. I had visited Tok Guru in that old wooden house of his in Kelantan once before while he was having lunch, and he insisted I join him for lunch. I too sat down cross-legged on the floor together with him and had lunch with him. I for one will never be able to forget this lunch. Such a humble man, to me he is a saint.

So many UMNO leaders have abused both state and federal resources which we all know this. Remember the $100 million marathon casino sessions in Ritz Club Piccadilly, London and the Crown Casino in Melbourne? Remember the wild trips to Disneyland, London, Paris and other exotic places these UMNO fellows go?  Who pays for all these trips if not some filthy rich Vincent Tans or some Ding Dong Wells.

In the mind of Malaysians, the UMNO government is corrupt. The pillar of this corruption is UMNO. UMNO controls the Police. UMNO controls the judiciary. Period.

Hence my view is and always has been that Tok Guru is a honest and a clean person and his conduct and the way he carry himself has been consistent with morally acceptable practice by any religion.

Kelantan UMNO are fucking bunch of hypocrites of the highest order.

This is the proposed symbol for the Pakatan Rakyat.

Pakatan has applied to the Registrar of Society for formal registration as a single entity and last week the application was submitted in Putrajaya.

Zaid Ibrahim the former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department who is heading the task force set up for the registration of the Pakatan alliance has proposed Tok Guru Nik Aziz to head the new political entity.

This is a brilliant proposal by Zaid. I’m too all for Tok Guru Nik Aziz my hero heading Pakatan.

With Tok Guru heading the Pakatan alliance, Pakatan will now be able to attract much rural Malay support into its fold. Besides, BN cannot attack Nik Aziz in a manner they are doing now to Anwar Ibrahim. This move of making Tok Guru to head the Pakatan will also give ample time for Anwar to devote and settle his numerous court cases and also give him more time to put more effort to stablise the Selangor State Government which also looks like its going the Perak way.

So it certain Zaid has laid out a road map to Putrajaya for Pakatan. Anwar Ibrahim should now ‘sacrifice’ himself to make way for Tok Guru Nik Aziz to lead Pakatan. Anwar should not create roadblocks for this move.

As we know, after the March 2008 12th General Erection, that an electoral pact alone was not enough to wrest power from the BN. A cohesive coalition is the only possible way. The biggest obstacle to Putrajaya is not BN but the opposition parties themselves.

Malaysians are sick and tired of BN’s corruption and abuse of power. They are ready for change but there must be a viable alternative to BN. So far there is none.

Pakatan is showing Malaysians some signs that they can be that alternative. If this is possible, then the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is Pakatan’s come the 13th General Elections. This is a chance of a lifetime and lets all make this work for a BETTER MALAYSIA.

You are more likely to ‘forgive and forget’ when you have been hurt by a lover rather than by a friend, says a new study.

The study by Clinical Psychology Doctoral candidate, Jodie Burchell of Australian National University (ANU) is the first who asked people how hurt they have felt when wronged by a romantic partner, a close friend and an acquaintance.

Burchell’s study is investigating whether the closeness of the relationship with the perpetrator of the hurtful event predicts how hurt a person reports feeling.

“The study found that no matter the event – whether it caused low or high hurt – people felt most hurt by those they were in close relationships with,” said Burchell.

“However, over time, people felt less hurt from events occurring in a highly intimate relationship, such as with a romantic partner, than they did in a moderately close relationship, such as with a close friend.” Added Burchell.

“That suggests that highly intimate relationships can both facilitate the greatest feelings of hurt, and best encourage their healing,” adds Burchell.

The results are drawn from two questionnaires. In the first, participants read stories representing either low or high hurt situations across a range of relationships.

In the second, participants recalled the most hurtful thing that their current romantic partner, close friend or acquaintance had done to them, says an ANU release.

“The results taken together suggest that people that are closer to the victim of the hurtful event are more able to inflict hurt upon them, regardless of the type of hurtful act they commit,” said Burchell.

“However, people may be more willing to forgive their current romantic partners for hurtful acts, if they choose to stay with them. This is in contrast to close friends, where many people reported being unable to regain trust and quality of relationship after very hurtful acts.” Burchell added.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib the son of Chief Minister of Sarawak Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib bin Mahmud has resigned as Deputy Minister of Tourism.

Sulaiman Abdul Rahman submitted his letter of resignation last week to the Minister of Tourism Datuk Paduka Ng Yen Yen due to misunderstanding with his Minister lady boss and this has been brewing for a while. Both are not in talking terms.

Sulaiman last week also sent Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak a copy of his resignation as the Deputy Minister and this it seems was not accepted by the PM.

Najib Tun Razak before he left for Sabah last Saturday did meet up with Sulaiman. Don’t know what transpired in this meeting.

In the March 2008 general election, Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib won a seat for parliament and became Deputy Tourism Minister. Before this, he did not have any political experience but was a high-profile corporate businessman.

Sometime last year, there was even a police report lodged by a former TV personality 22-year-old Avaa Vanja Ramli alleging that Sulaiman had beat her up blue and black in Kuala Lumpur.

There is also widespread gossip in Sarawak that Sulaiman is suffering from the disease AIDS and gets depressed and erratic most of the time and hence its difficult for him to function as a Deputy Minister.

Sulaiman’s sister Jamilah Hamidah controls the family’s business empire in Canada, America and England and it is said to be worth more than a billion dollars.

Sulaiman’s brother Mahmud Abu Bekir who is married to the elder sister of Malaysia’s Jazz Queen Shila Majid is also said to be worth more than $500 million.

Sulaiman’s other sister Roziah is one of the most powerful businesswomen in Sarawak with extensive holdings in property and timber business.

Sulaiman’s father Taib is also accused of deep corruption and nepotism with dominance of Sarawak’s political elite in the logging industry. It was even reported that nine Japanese shipping companies, which transported timber from Sarawak, had allegedly failed to report some 1.1 billion yen in income over a period of up to seven years. The report claimed the money was paid as kickbacks to Sarawak officials including a Hong Kong agent linked to Taib’s family.

Under Taib the logging industry in Sarawak has logged many of the ancestral lands of Sarawak’s indigenous communities, despite a lot of hue and cry, petitions and road blockades by the civil society. Forceful dismantling has led to several deaths and regular violent coercion by the Malaysian army, police and logging industry enforcers. There was also reports of RAPE of indigenous girls and women by loggers and enforcers of the industry and has become a hugely contentious issue in Sarawak. See here and here.

A New news site Free Malaysia Today will be launch at noon on Nov 11.

Free Malaysia Today has no connections with the defunct FreeMalaysia.com or Free Anwar Campaign started by Raja Petra during the turbulent days of REFORMASI when Anwar Ibrahim was beaten to a pulp by the then Inspector General of Police Rahim Noor and then locked up in Sungai Buloh prison for sodomy. Remember the days?

Free Malaysia Today will be similar to the existing Internet newspapers like MalaysiaKini, Malaysian Insider, Malaysian Mirror, or the Nut Graph.

Looking forward to see some real investigative journalism at work.

One of my favorite, Robbie Williams, the pot smoking bad boy of British pop who is known for his out-of-the-box videos, upped his own bar by dressing up as the ‘White Rabbit’ from ‘Alice In Wonderland’ for his latest song.

The ‘Angels’ singer hops around in a fantasy land in the video for the track ‘You Know Me’ and uses a carrot for a microphone.

The fantasy world created for the video also boasts of singing frogs, talking cabbages and bunny girls.

It starts with a ” STONE” looking Williams sitting in the hairdresser’s chair, deep in thought, before falling down the rabbit hole into his very own Wonderland.

The song will be released on December 7 and is the second track taken from his comeback album ‘Reality Killed the Video Star.’ Watch for this.

Robbie Williams who never denies smoking weed is making a comeback after a gap of more than three years spending time in America.

Robbie Williams the former ‘Take That’ member is also reportedly started work on a reunion album with his old band-mates.

Here is Robbie’s “ANGELS” and “FEEL” and these 2 songs has always been very special to me. I dedicate this to all those who are in love forever and ever…..
