Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil

Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil received 14 nominations from Sabah Wanita Umno to contest the movement’s top post. This shows that the majority of Wanita grassroots in Sabah want a leadership change in the UMNO Wanita Malaysia.

After 25 divisions had held their delegates’ meetings in Sabah, the Wanita wings in 14 of the divisions nominated Shahrizat to contest for the Wanita Umno chief post.

The majority of the Wanita UMNO grassroots members in Sabah want a major change in the Wanita Umno Malaysia leadership next year.

Sabah Wanita Umno also supported the move by the movement’s executive committee member Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim to contest the vice-chief post.

This shows that the  Wanita Umno transition plan which had been accepted by the movement’s leadership has failed and Rafidah is more or less shown the exit door. Wanita Sabah grassroots are forcing Rafidah to speed up transition of power to make Shahrizat chief by March.  So it looks like Rafidah cannot cling on to her post anymore till June next year.

Shahrizat too is pressured by her supporters who are inspired by the leadership change at Umno’s helm, and want an earlier transition.

Shahrizat supporters in Sabah are saying that Sharizat should be given power as chief and not just acting chief, to structure the movement’s strategies. Some say that Shahrizat is not a even a Member of Parliament, unlike Rafidah who is Kuala Kangsar MP, and if she does not go for the Wanita Chief’s Post then she might get nothing when Najib takes over UMNO’s helm in March. Besides, as acting chief she would be very vulnerable. Some are even saying that Rafidah might even stay on as Wanita Chief for the whole duration of 3 years after winning uncontested.

It looks like Wanita Umno deputy chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil is left with no choice but to mount a challenge against incumbent Rafidah Aziz for the wing’s top post.

Wanita exco member Kamilia Ibrahim is also firm in her decision to contest the deputy  post.

Rafidah is also adamant and sticking to the plan to not step down anytime sooner than June next year.

Things are not looking good at all between Rafidah And Shahrizat and there is going to be a big showdown soon.
